The primary function of the Investigations Unit is investigating major crimes. Detectives serve many functions in the department including; maintaining gang intelligence, narcotics investigations, evidence custodians, maintaining registered sex offender accountability, and custodians for forfeited assets. Along with their duties of investigating major crimes, Detectives also work very closely with surrounding drug and gang task forces, including DEA, ATF, LEAD, and the state and federal prosecutor’s offices.
