The new pumper, Toppenish Fire Engine 11, is on site and is awaiting some final touches before the new apparatus goes into service in the next few weeks. The 2023 Spartan Metro Star Fire Engine,  built in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, arrived on December 11, 2023 and made it’s first public appearance just before the Toppenish City Council Meeting at Toppenish City Hall that evening and just in time for Christmas!

A few features and technology upgrades on the new vehicle include: An electronically controlled Hale Q Max pump rated for 2,000 gallons of water per minute.  The Engine is powered by a turbo charged Cummins 450 hp L9 Diesel Engine with a 6-speed Allison Automatic Transmission. The new engine is also equipped with airbags in the cab to help protect our Toppenish Firefighters. The cost of this engine/pumper is $629,682 before tax.

The Department is expecting the new 107′ aerial ladder truck to be delivered later this month.
