Extreme Heat and Heat Related Illness

Extreme heat is defined as summertime temperatures that are much hotter and/or humid than average. Extreme heat and elevated temperatures are common for our region, The Toppenish Fire Department and the City of Toppenish want people to be able to recognize the signs of heat-related illnesses. Know the signs of heat related illness and how to take action if you or someone you know is showing signs of a heat related illness.

Heat-related deaths are preventable. The best way to prevent heat-related illnesses and death is to follow hot weather safety precautions. Summertime activity, whether on the playing field or the construction site, must be balanced with actions that help the body cool itself to prevent heat-related illness.
