Pursuant to RCW 42.56.250(12)(a)(b)(c)(d), this is to advise that on June 13, 2023, the City of Toppenish received an email public records request from J D for all fire fighter earnings for the years 2001-2022.

It has been determined that these payroll records are public and, per the State of Washington’s Public Records Act, are not exempt from disclosure. Accordingly, documents that provide the information listed below will be released to the requestor on July 26, 2023, the records will include the following information:

  • First Name
  • Middle Initial
  • Last Name
  • Regular Hours
  • Overtime Hours
  • Accrual Hours
  • Gross Pay
  • Net Pay
  • Taxes
  • Deductions
  • Employer Liabilities
  • Gross Payroll


A note about injunctive relief

This notice is being provided to give you an opportunity to ask the Yakima County Superior Court to enjoin disclosure of the records.  Whether to seek an injunction is a decision that must be made by each individual.  Individuals should be aware that there are certain fees or costs for an injunction; they may want to obtain the advice of private counsel before deciding whether to pursue an injunction.

To prevent the release of records for this current request, the City of Toppenish would need to be served with an injunction by the close of business on July 24, 2023.
