Public Records Request Notice to all employees, including part-time, temporary, seasonal employees, and elected officials for the year 2022 – City of Toppenish

Pursuant to RCW 42.56.250(12)(a)(b)(c)(d), this is to advise that on June 22, 2023, the City of Toppenish received an email public records request from American Transparency for information about all employees including part-time, temporary, seasonal employees, and elected officials who were paid compensation for the year 2022.

It has been determined that these payroll records are public and, per the State of Washington’s Public Records Act, are not exempt from disclosure. Accordingly, documents that provide the information listed below will be released to the requestor on July 31, 2023, the records will include the following information:

  • First Name
  • Middle Initial
  • Last Name
  • Hire Date
  • Base Salary Amount
  • Bonus Amount
  • Overtime Amount
  • Gross Annual Wages
  • Position Title

A note about injunctive relief

This notice is being provided to give you an opportunity to ask the Yakima County Superior Court to enjoin disclosure of the records.  Whether to seek an injunction is a decision that must be made by each individual.  Individuals should be aware that there are certain fees or costs for an injunction; they may want to obtain the advice of private counsel before deciding whether to pursue an injunction.

To prevent the release of records for this current request, the City of Toppenish would need to be served with an injunction by the close of business on July 28, 2023.
